Kinect® Real-Time Laser Project

Real Time dimensional analysis and projection.

Here's the basic architecture,
MS-Kinect > Computer > Custom Software Program > ILDA Drivers > ILDA D/A Converter > 3-Beam ILDA laser

Input from the MS Kinect is brought into the computer via a specialized Kinect adaptor to a standard USB interface. Real-time measurements leveraging the skeleton program converts a variable number of reference points for speed, direction, location, and depth. The data is then transferred to another module that reverses the calculation to evaluate the signals needed to drive the ILDA lasers.  The overlay's the hard part.
